Today is my favorite day of the year. Daylight Savings Time. Yes losing an hour of sleep is not so fun but gaining an extra hour of daylight in the evening is priceless. It gives me hope. Seriously, this extra hour of sunlight is better than any Christmas present I could ever receive (ok except for maybe a spa gift certificate if any one is reading) :) In celebration of the extra hour of daylight, my son and I went on a little neighborhood stroll in search of spring. And yes, hidden amongst the ever present drifts of snow in Michigan, we found little glimmers of hope. Buds starting to form on the trees. Irises and tulips starting to push their way north from the dark abyss. We dug out all our tulip shoots to give them all a shot at a little extra sunlight to help them grow. And then, as only a Michigander could do, we built a mini snow man on the same day we found our plants sprouting, then went inside to warm up with some mugs of hot chocolate. Our toes and noses were numb, but our hearts were warm with excitement over the promise of spring... ~jen
