I had high hopes for yesterday. Pat was playing at an outdoor concert in Ann Arbor yesterday and Jamers and I planned to tag along, followed by dinner with friends, and fireworks and fun later with more friends. But the temps yesterday were a bit daunting, and with a 107 degree heat index, Jamerson and I stayed home (in the A/C) while Pat went off and did his thing.
So, what to do with a 4 year old cooped up indoors on a holiday? We scoped out Pinterest for a few fun snack ideas and then had an afternoon of fun in the kitchen!
My son has a laundry list of food allergies (peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, sesame, legumes, and a hint of soy) so finding fun treats for him can be a bit challenging. We did good I think and our favorite was the jello popcorn. DELICIOUS!! We found the recipe here and since Kroger was sold out of blue jello, we bought lime and added some blue food coloring to make it a pretty aquamarine. :)
Later, when Pat came home, we had a quick impromptu party to enjoy our snacks then headed outside for a few sparklers.
I left the 5DMII inside and photographed instead with my iphone. I used SLOWSHUTTER app. to do the longer exposures on the left and PICFRAME app to do the grouping of 4 images together.
Hope you had a great holiday!
xxoo, jen
